Kalinga Park Oil Painting

I painted this oil on canvas after my previous attempt at the Kalinga River, in Queensland, Australian landscape. I think this one is a bit nicer, and a more nature feel to it. I broke the trees up with the blazing sunlight and allowed more definition in the trees. I also blended more than the previous painting. The green, yellow and blue is still the main tones, but I add bits of purple to offset it a bit and bring a more natural spectrum from the bright light.

These lovely little buggars have recently sold several cards at my website.  They are the Green Jewel Bug – Lampromicra senator Family Scutelleridae from Undara Lava Caves, Queensland, AU.  They are commonly called Christmas beetles and they are a beautiful iridescent green and orange color.  See more of my art works at Redbubble link above
